Stepping Back to be Present

Join Rob Croft at Quaker Meeting House, Frodsham Street, Chester CH1 3LF on Saturday 26 September from 10:30am to 12noon.

Retreat is the practice of stepping back to be present. It may seem counter-intuitive, but when we step back, space can open before us – space in which to rest, receive and re-imagine.

Retreat - Stepping back to be present

We’ll begin simply by arriving as we are, with a chance to become still and find our centre. Together we’ll read a few selected short texts before spending some time quietly reflecting on them individually.

We’ll then come back together, with an invitation to share something that stirred, struck or surprised us. There is no obligation to speak – listening is just as much a part of our time together.

From there, conversation can unfold. Often, the fascination is not what we get out of the texts, but what the texts get out of us.

We’ll meet in the quiet of the Quaker Meeting House in central Chester.

Free to attend. Donations to Retreat House Chester are welcome.
